Tips for Forming a Stent On a Model

  1. Take excellent impression and pour up. No base on model or drill large multiple holes in base.

  2. Bubble-free margins.

  3. Vacuum form.

  4. After cooling. Use free-flowing ball point pen, draw a solid line at the junction of soft tissue and tooth both labially and lingually.

  5. Pull off model.

  6. Rough cut excess away with large scissors and cut off at the distal of the first molar.

  7. Use small curved crown and bridge scissors to trim with about 1mm overlap on attached gingiva

  8. .040 soft EVA margins do not need flaming or polishing.

  9. With .080 you may control thickness of stent by allowing sheet to sag over model (prior to vaccum) until desired thickness is attained.
