Happy Labor Day from Acme Dentistry

Labor Day is a special day for Americans as we celebrate and pay tribute to those who have worked tirelessly to ensure that our country continues to prosper. Most Americans celebrate this holiday by attending various parades, events, picnics, concerts and parties held across the country with family and friends. Labor Day also marks the end of summer for many students. This is a good time for the kids to get ready for another school year with a healthy bright smile.

So, while we may take the day off on Labor Day it is unlikely that our teeth will have the same holiday. That’s why it’s important to follow these crucial dental tips:

  1. Avoid or Quit Smoking

The biggest favor you can do for yourself is limit your daily intake of smoking tobacco or quit smoking completely. The worst that can happen is that you will suffer from mouth cancer and in best case you will have yellow teeth and bad breath. But, if you don’t want to quit smoking then you should never make the grave mistake of having any drink or gum immediately after smoking because this will only worsen the problem.

  1. Restrict Your Soda Consumption

For starters, it is highly important that you limit your consumption of soda drinks. These drinks contain high levels of carbon which results in gum disease via tooth decay. Secondly, most of these drinks use artificial colors and flavors which in turn leads to dull yellow colored teeth.

  1. Don’t Ignore the Tongue

Even if you are brushing your teeth twice daily, it is important to also clean your tongue while brushing. Lots of bacteria reside on the surface of the tongue and cause bad breath. It will also negatively affect all the efforts you put into improving your dental hygiene.

  1. Using a High Quality Mouthwash

We strongly recommend that in addition to brushing and flossing you also use a high quality mouthwash to complement your oral hygiene. A mouthwash that contains Listerine is effective in killing off any bacteria or odor which may reside in your mouth. It will also make your teeth much stronger.

  1. Consumption of Calcium and other Nutrients

We have heard it countless times that calcium, vitamins, protein, carbohydrates and other nutrients are good for our body. However, apart from our body, our teeth also need these vital nutrients to stay strong and free from any problems or disease such as gum bleeding and cavities.

The most important thing to remember is that if you experience even a tiny amount of pain, DON’T IGNORE IT! Consult your dentist or book an appointment as soon as you can as oral problems can sometimes lead to more severe problems which may significantly affect your lifestyle.

We welcome you to contact our office and get professional help from the highly specialized team at Acme Dentistry if you have any questions or concerns regarding your dental hygiene or those of your family, our cosmetic dentistry or if you just want to get your teeth shiny and white.
