- Teeth of our forefathers: We all know George Washington had false teeth, but did you realize that they were not made of wood? He had numerous dentures that were constructed of his own pulled teeth, ivory, animal teeth, various metals, and even real teeth from other people, but none of them were very comfortable, even with continuous adjustments. - A brighter note: Thomas Jefferson, on the other hand, had great teeth – even in his 80s. His secret is what we preach to this day – great oral hygiene. He also saw a dentist regularly and used the colonial version of an interdental stimulator between his teeth. These are great oral care tips to this day.
